Tagxedo/wordle mini-book
Students should create a mini-book about Day
of the Dead/Día de los muertos
Guidelines:
1. Is going to be graded as a major test
2. The theme is Day of the Dead
3. Should have 10 pages each with a tagxedo/wordle picture
4. It should be colorful
5. The student should have a cover page
6. The title should be original
7. The last page should have an original logo/picture.
8. The mini-book It is due November 2nd.
9. The student should glue the pages on the side (no staples)
10. Student should give an oral presentation to the class
Instructions to create the Tagxedo/wordle book:
What is 'tagxedo'. Tagxedo is a word cloud, and a word cloud is an artistic arrangement of words of different sizes. You can use the same word several times and the more is used the bigger the word appears.
1. Student should pick 10 characters from Day of the Dead examples; la catrina, la llorona, pan de muerto, a skull, a skeleton, Frida Kahlo, puppet skeleton, etc. 2. Make a list of 20 words that describes the character well in Spanish, or at least that pertained to the holiday theme. 3. write them down in the tagxedo cloud as many times as you want to until the cloud reaches the desired form.
How to Create the Word Cloud:
1. Visit a word cloud website such as Wordle.net, ABCya.com, or Tagxedo.com. Look for the “create” or the “word cloud” link and click it to get started.
2. Create the cloud about your character using the icon at the bottom of the tagxedo website.
3. Write the words you picked for your character or copy and paste your list of words into the text area. Click Submit.
4. Play with the color, font, and layout options until the words are arranged and have the complete picture of your character.
5. Check with your teacher before printing your word cloud.
6. If you want to save the word cloud, look for the Save option
** Before you start your cloud make a list of all words that you can use example: calaca, flaca, muerte, bonita, rica, tumbas, pan, dulce, papel, honesto, panteón, cementerio, llorona, maria, mato, hijos, esposo la dejo, catrina mujer adinerada (you can write sentences) etc.
