All Souls Day in the Czech Republic
November 2
Every year, All Souls Day in the Czech Republic is connected with the remembrance of our relatives and friends that are deceased.
Dusicky - or "Souls" - as it is called in Czech is an annual pilgrimage that has taken place since pagan times. People travel to the cemeteries of their most beloved.
In the past, a special bread called "dusicky" (which is the same as the Czech word for All Souls’ Day) was baked for beggars, wayfarers and poor people in general.
Today, graves of relatives and friends are adorned with flowers, wreaths and lit candles in memory of the dead.
On November second the cemeteries are left awash with flowers and flickering candles and it is hard find a soul which had been forgotten.
If you are not able to come to cemetery in person you can light a candle in your window and remember your ancestors, relatives, friends who are deceased in your prayers. Read more about All Souls Day in the Czech republic
At the end of October we created an "All Souls Day" Memorial page It wil be interesting to see how many candle we can light all over the world on All Souls Day, November 2.
